Community

Community involvement is an integral part of the culture at Garibaldi Veterinary Hospital. Our team regularly participates in initiatives in Squamish, and in the larger veterinary community.

HOWE SOUND SECONDARY SCHOOL
For 19 years, the Dr. Tom Honey / Garibaldi Veterinary Hospital Award is an annual bursary given to the student who achieves the highest proficiency in Life Sciences and in extracurricular activities at Howe Sound Secondary School in Squamish.

CANADIAN ANIMAL ASSISTANCE TEAM
Aliesha Timms is a member of the Canadian Animal Assistance Team, a volunteer group dedicated to augmenting animal health and welfare in communities without access to veterinary services. She has participated in programs in Bella Bella, Botswana, Nunavut and Ahousat. CLICK HERE to read more about Aliesha’s adventures. You can learn more about CAAT on their website: www.caat-canada.org

BCSPCA
We support the important work of the Squamish SPCA by regularly treating animals on a cost recovery basis. These treatments range from spays and neuters to extremely involved treatment of injury, disease and trauma. For more information on the Squamish SPCA, visit: www.spca.bc.ca/branches/squamish/
PUPPY CLASS
Exposure to other pets, people and situations is vital to your pet’s socialization. Our free puppy classes present a safe and controlled environment for socialization to take place. Conducted by Dr. Honey and Dr. Kirkham, the classes also provide an opportunity ask questions and gain valuable tips and information on a variety of topics about your puppy’s care.

CHARITIES
We support a number of local charities through fundraising. These include: Paws for a Cause, Rosier Days Dog Rescue, Squamish SPCA, RDOGS and For Rescues With Love.
