Just as in humans, nutrition is a vital component of overall pet health and longevity; however, animal nutrition needs are not exactly the same as ours.

Diet is an important cornerstone to proper care, and every pet owner should know the basics of nutrition. There are an incredible number of excellent quality diets available and more becoming available all the time. These diets can provide optimal nutrition for various life stages and also can help address specific disease problems.
Selecting the right pet food can be a challenge, as is trying to understand nutrition labels. During the month of May, Garibaldi Veterinary Hospital will be providing complimentary nutrition consultations to help you optimize your pet’s diet for good health. We’ll also provide advice on optimal nutrition for various life stages such as growth, adult and senior, and discuss how a well-balanced diet can help address specific disease problems including kidney disease, diabetes, obesity, food allergies and dental disease, to name just a few.
Wherever possible we will also provide a free bag of appropriate food for your pet!

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine / Hospital Director
Dr. Tom Honey hails from Campbellford, Ontario. His veterinary education took him to the esteemed Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, followed by several years in Toronto area practices.
Dr. Honey believes his role is to advocate for pet health, starting with illness prevention. At the same time, he is committed to developing leading edge diagnostic and treatment techniques. He engages in countless hours of continued education in dental care, diagnostic ultrasound and internal medicine. These tools help him diagnose and best treat patients suffering from health problems ranging from the common to extremely obscure.
