Spay & Neuter
Spay and neuter procedures are important to prevent overpopulation, and also provide numerous health benefits. Spaying eliminates the risk of life-threatening uterine infections and significantly decreases the incidence of mammary cancer.
Spay
Spaying eliminates the risk of life-threatening uterine infections and significantly decreases the incidence of mammary cancer. Although considered a “routine” procedure, a spay is an intra-abdominal surgery and the safety and comfort of your pet is our first priority. Pre-surgical blood work and intravenous fluids during the procedure help ensure a comfortable, safe and rapid recovery. A Registered Animal Health Technologist cares for your pet throughout this routine procedure.
Neuter
Neutering your dog or cat is an essential part of reducing pet overpopulation. Neutering also decreases roaming behaviour, marking behaviours — and in many cases, aggressive tendencies associated with the presence of testosterone. There are several medical benefits to having your pet neutered, such as eliminating the risk of testicular cancer and decreasing the risk of prostatic disease.
Although considered a “routine” procedure, a neuter is a sterile surgical procedure performed under general anesthetic, and the safety and comfort of your pet is our first priority.
