Signs your dog loves you!

🐶What better way to celebrate this Valentine’s Day than learning 5 signs that your dog loves you. Of course, every bond is different, here is a list of common behaviours and actions that your pet may display to show that they love you. At the end you will learn how to reciprocate that love and show that they mean as much to you as you mean to them. Without further ado, here are 5 signs your dog loves you.

You may notice that whether you are gone 5 minutes or 5 hours, they greet you at the door with the same amount of excitement.
More often than not you can tell how your dog is feeling through the expression of their tail. But before we go any further, let’s remember that their tail is one indicator of how they may be feeling. It’s important to look at the body language displayed as well. Rest assured, if your dog’s tail is up and wagging followed by positive body language, it can be an expression of happiness and excitement.
A strong display of trust and affection is through eye contact. If you find that your dog is maintaining long loving gazes, it can be a sign of deep trust and affection.
Do you ever find that your dog may give you one of their toys? This is a common expression of wanting to play. After all, what better way to show how much you love someone by wanting to spend time together? Giving you their toys shows that they want you to enjoy something that they find great happiness in.
Contrary to all the excitement felt through our dogs’ behaviour, having a sleeping buddy can also be a huge sign of trust and affection. Dogs are at their most vulnerable when asleep. If they choose you to snuggle with, take it as a sign of deep trust and affection.

🐶Additional signs that your dog loves you includes licking you (giving that big slobbery kiss, wanted or not), displaying a playful bow, following you around the house (unless of course it’s anywhere close -or not- to dinner time) and any unique special affection you and your furry friend share.

🐶How do we reciprocate the love our dogs share with us? Aside from the walks, trips to the dog park and the infamous belly rubs, the best way that we can show our love to our dogs is to be proactive about their health. The first step is to be an advocate for our dog’s health with illness prevention. Dogs are creatures of habit and the sooner we notice any irregularities the better chance we have at being proactive about their health.
