We have long had Avian Influenza (H1N1) affecting wild birds, food producing birds and pet birds in BC.
More recently, a young adult person was hospitalized for Avian Influenza in British Columbia. Fortunately this person is recovering now. It is not known how this person was exposed to the virus. Please note heed of the government guidelines regarding reporting sick or injured birds as they may be suffering from Avian Influenza (see above link).
